Are you following the world Cup? I admit that I jumped on the bandwagon late, when the united states team was advancing to the final 16. even though the us is no longer in the tournament, it is still a fun sport to watch. I even have my very own soccer ball! I have a confession to make–sometimes I get confused between soccer and football.

I learned a lot viewing the soccer games on TV.  In case you’re not a soccer fan, here are the essential things you need to know:

You get to wear a comfy-looking uniform with baggy shorts and a tee shirt. Unfortunately, you have to wear it with knee socks.

The current world cup is being held in Brazil, which looks like a fun place!

FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association. You can say it with a foreign accent and sound very cultured and smart.

The FIFA world cup trophy is not a cup! It’s an 18 karat gold statue with two men holding the world. Hey! maybe that’s why it’s called the world Cup.

The guidelines are a little bit complicated, so it’s best just to eat some snacks and delight in viewing the athletes running around.

The many essential thing you should know: When a player scores, you ought to shout out “GOOOOoooooaaaaaaaaallllllllll!

I am sad that my team was eliminated from the competition, but happy that they made it as far as they did. the most essential thing to learn is to be a good Sport. Being a good sport implies you have to smile and pretend to be pleased even when you do not win. Can you tell my smile is fake?
