30-day challenge: teach your dog five new commands (day 30)

yesterday was the last day of my 30-day difficulty to teach my dog five new commands: bang, roll over, crawl, go long as well as bucket. let me stress that although my dog is grasping these new commands, he is still learning. The biggest error I made with this difficulty was to set a deadline. Dogs can’t always discover something new in a short amount of time, as well as one of the worst things to do is rush them. A much better difficulty to try would be to train your dog everyday for 30 days or to method five new commands for 30 days. even so, Ace is close to having the commands down.

Ace has the commands that include a sphere down quite well. He puts his sphere in a container now, however I usually have to point to the container as well as stand right by it. The next goal is to get Ace to put a sphere in the container no matter where I am standing. since of his sphere fixation as well as obsession with playing fetch, it is going to be almost impossible to get him to put a sphere in a container even five feet from me. “Bucket” has been a great difficulty for Ace, since when a sphere is around, he has a difficult time focusing on anything else as well as ignores even the most fundamental commands.

I assumption Ace is quite great at “go long.” It would be nice if he might catch the sphere more often, however perhaps I requirement to work on my throw! Again, this command is difficult for him since he does not want to leave my side if I am holding a ball.

As for bang as well as roll over, Ace is just not as well thrilled about these commands as well as he decided to make that extremely obvious in the video. just look at this mutt flop around. We requirement to work on a quicker response, as well as I requirement to stop repeating commands so he doesn’t believe he can wait up until I state a word two or three times.

And finally, crawl. We requirement some more method on this one. Ace will crawl, however he likes to keep his butt high. In the video, I kept my hand on his back. I will have to go back to the fundamentals as well as begin with Ace crawling only a few inches at a time. The issue is, he always wishes to move so fast. Why crawl when you can run?

So there you have it. Although sometimes it seemed like we were getting nowhere, Ace as well as I have come a long method from day one. try mentor your dog some new commands. Dogs can discover a great deal if we take the time to teach them.
